American Airlines has “basic economy” round-trip flights from Houston (IAH/HOU) to Portland, OR (PDX) for $120 with a connection. $80 each-way. Flights scattered from January to February. Origin/Destination reversible. “Regular Economy” fare is available for +$40 more.

Note: “Basic Economy” fares do not include a free carry-on bag. Only a personal item (like a small-backpack) is free. Checked bags cost +$25 each-way. Seats are randomly assigned prior to boarding. If you have the AAdvantage credit-card, the “Free checked-bag” and “Priority boarding” perks will be useful for this.

Note: Be sure to check BOTH “IAH” and “HOU” for availability.

Note: You can select between “Regular Economy” and “Main Cabin” at the Priceline or Travelocity check-out screen. See screenshot below.

I was able to pull this up on Travelocity, and Priceline. Screenshot taken at 12:49 PM on 11/07/17.

Note: OTAs such as Travelocity and Priceline allow free cancellation without penalty within 24-hours after you purchase. As deals sell-out or expire quickly, this policy will allow you to “lock-in” the cheap fare while you sort out a plan. Just keep in mind that after 24-hours, you will not be able to cancel without the regular penalty.
