American and British Airways have round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) to Rome, Milan, or Venice (FCO/MXP/VCE) for $476-$586. Flights from September to October. 7-day minimum stay required. Expect prices to fluctuate by +/- $20.

Note: Carry-on bag is allowed for free, but checked-bags will cost about +$60 each-way. If you’re checking a bag, it will make more sense to upgrade into “Regular Economy” for +$45 each-way, which includes a free checked-bag and also a carry-on.

Note: Avoid any fares that are marked as a split cabin “Basic Economy/Economy” on the domestic segments. Those domestic segments will not allow for a free carry-on, and frankly, that’s more of a hassle than it’s worth. Instead, select the routes that either have all segments listed as “Basic Economy” or ones that connect in Europe, such as the flights on BA. Those segments will give you free overhead access in “Basic”. (See screenshots below for examples on this)

Note: OTAs such as Travelocity and Priceline allow free cancellation without penalty within 24-hours after you purchase. As deals sell-out or expire quickly, this policy will allow you to “lock-in” the cheap fare while you sort out a plan. Just keep in mind that after 24-hours, you will not be able to cancel without the regular penalty.
