[06/21/2014 @ 3:00 PM] This deal looks like it’s dead. Price is now $1043 for SAT and $1278 for IAH. Congrats to those that were able to book it.

Update: Looks like San Antonio got pulled from Expedia. I’m still seeing it on Orbitz and I’m pointing the Orbitz links there.

I’m seeing really cheap flights from Houston (IAH) to Buenos Aires for $704 round-trip 1-stop. Carrier is Aeromexico / Delta. If you drive I-10 east and leave from San Antonio (SAT) it’s even cheaper; $494 for the trip, which is about a half of what the route normally prices at. I’m up for the drive if it will save me half a grand. The example links to Expedia do the IAH route. If you want the $494 flight switch out IAH for SAT.

There is a stopover component but it looks like the San Antonio (SAT) route will require it for an overnight stop in Mexico City (MEX). I would research this more to see if there is a way to string in some extra destinations, but I doubt the fare code will be alive for too much longer. I just went ahead and booked the flight out of San Antonio (SAT) to Buenos Aires for $494 and I’m more than happy with that.

All I can say is book this if you’re wanting to go — now. I haven’t seen the route for $700 since starting Escape Houston. If you can bear a little I-10, even better, as I never thought I would see if under $500 from Texas.

Purchase now to lock in the price and cancel for FREE before 11:00 PM EST tomorrow if you book via Orbitz or Expedia.

FYI: If you don’t have a Delta Skymiles account, sign up and then register for the new user promotion. Details are here [Delta: New SkyMiles member welcome offer].  Use that account for these Aeromexico flights. You get 100% mileage accrual, which is worth about $150 — nearly half the price of the ticket if you do the flight out of SAT.
