I’m seeing cheap airfare from Austin (AUS) to several cities in Australia. Round-trip flights to Melbourne (MEL), Sydney (SYD), and Brisbane (BNE) are going for about $1170 at the moment, which is about $500 less than what the route is normally priced at. If you’ve been wanting to book travel to Australia you should probably pick it up before the sale gets pulled. Interestingly, fare rules contain a stopover component, so I’ll be seeing what we can do with that when I have more time.
- BETWEEN AREA 1 AND AREA 3 FOR K- TYPE FARES NOTE – GENERAL RULE DOES NOT APPLY. 2 STOPOVERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT LIMITED TO 1 FREE AND 1 AT USD 150.00/CAD 150.00. NONE IN JAPAN. CHILD/INFANT DISCOUNTS APPLY.
Update: Ok, I’ve had time to mess with the stopover a bit. It looks like you can easily take a free stopover in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne for the same price as just doing a round-trip. Unless you have some specific reason to stay in only one city, you should probably put that free stopover to use and visit another city in Australia during your vacation.
I hope by now you’re familiar with stopovers and know how they work. If not, it’s time to catch up. Start here: [How to use stopover rules when buying airfare].
