[07/28/2014 @ 12:09 PM] Price of fare has increased to about $200. Removing from deal list.
[08/03/2014 @ 4:23 PM] Re-added to deal list. Fares available for $185.
[08/13/2014 @ 9:07 PM] Price has dropped back to $178.
[09/08/2014 @ 12:13 PM] United has the fare at $190. JetBlue seems to have dropped.
JetBlue currently has discount airfare on sale from Austin (AUS) to Orlando, Florida (MCO). Fare is $178 nonstop, round-trip. Flights to Florida from Austin are usually much cheaper than their equivalent flight out of Houston. Such is the case for today’s JetBlue sale.
The fare doesn’t allow for stopovers, but it does allow for an open-jaw out of Fort Lauderdale (FLL) for only $16 more. So, you could pick up a car in Orlando (MCO) and return it in Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and fly out from there instead of flying out from where you flew in. Doing that will open up an interesting side-road trip and you could probably easily hit Miami if you wanted to. I’m seeing rental costs of about $18 dollars a day, well worth the mobility. Fort Lauderdale is about 3 hours away from Orlando by car. If you’re stopping to gawk at stuff (recommended) then it will take longer.
