VivaAerobus is leaving a bad impression on me…

Today, I was informed by a reader here that VivaAerobus had changed their Houston to Cancun flight departure from Saturday to Friday. VivaAerobus¬†sent no e-mail, and provided no notification that this was happening. I have my own travel booked with them in January, and I had to manually pull up my itinerary on their website to see that my flights were affected as well. From what I can tell, VivaAerobus has changed their schedule to where no flights leave from Houston to Cancun on a¬†Friday or Tuesday. So if you had a flight with them on those days, you’ll probably be affected as well.

My main problem with this airline is that there was no notification sent out that they were making a broad change to their itinerary. As such, I won’t be featuring flights on VivaAerobus again, ever.

As for my flights, I’ll probably modify my travel plans to return a day earlier since I’m getting there a day earlier now.

    Sorry to hear. Did you have any change fees? I recommended so I feel bad. Sorry. JBH1970 here. As far as I can tell I have no changes, But we leave on a Wednesday and return on a Monday.

    • Hi Joe, no worries.

      I went ahead and stuck with the new dates that they’ve given me so far, so I didn’t have any fees. I may modify them later though.

      I did call them and ask them what my options were, and they do stick you with a good portion of the cost if you cancel the itinerary due to the days no longer working out. In my case it was about $69 per ticket.

      Other options that were provided: I could change the dates (I’m assuming at no cost). Or get a travel voucher for future travel for the full price of the ticket.

    Did they do this recently, or were your tickets booked a while ago? I just recommended these guys to a colleague (who is travelling with her husband and child) and she purchased tickets a few days ago. Fingers crossed these are just some kinks as they get up and running. Sorry to hear about the no notification business.. that’s quite shady…

    • This was done recently. About a week ago. I’m hoping that there will be no further changes to my itinerary, and I’ve been checking it online to make sure.
