Flights to San Juan from Austin are pretty cheap right now if you’re willing to fly out from Austin instead of Houston and don’t mind a 2 to 4 hour stop. You can fly out from Houston with stops for about $100 more, or you can pay about $300 more if you bleed money and want to get there non-stop.

I tried pulling this up on Orbitz, Hotwire.com
and Expedia and only Expedia came back with the best price. Hotwire.com failed to pair up American Airlines with Jet Blue and Orbitz cost $3 dollars more. Hey, every dollar counts. So if you’re going to book this do it on Expedia.
Really not a bad price considering that the flight from Houston to Denver for Memorial Day Weekend is currently $382. You’re getting out of the states and onto an island in the Caribbean with beautiful beaches and fantastic food. There is just a lot to like about this deal so it’s definitely worth the drive to Austin to catch the flight. If you actually live in Austin, well, aren’t you lucky. 🙂
If you’re planning to book this, consider buying the hotel and flight together as a package-deal, you can save more money than buying each separate. Just a quick look at the price for five nights + flight ends up showing around $750 on the low end while $819 will get you the Parador MaunaCaribe which is on the beach with an infinity pool. Not to shabby. Once you do the math, that ends up being $100 a night for the hotel, or about as expensive as one of our craptastic Houston hotels not anywhere near a beach.
