Air China has round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) to Tokyo (HND) for $499 with a connection in Beijing (PEK). Flights September to November and January to mid-February. Outbound Blackout: Oct 05 – Oct 15. Inbound Blackout: Sep 22 – Oct 03.
Note: Connection times are 3-hours and 30 minutes in Beijing. It will take 21-hours total travel time to get there. This is about 4-hours longer than a similar flight on Delta, United, or American, but those others are priced about $800 more than this at the moment. On the plus side, this flies into HND, which is about 90-minutes closer to Tokyo than NRT.

Round-trip flights are going for $910 on to either Tokyo (NRT / HND) or Osaka (KIX) which is a pretty good price when you consider that United has the same route priced at an astronomical $1884 for a 1-stop.
