Flights to smaller airports may require a long connection or two stops. When you begin your search, modify your filter to remove fares that have more than one connection, some of those smaller airports ONLY have flights with bad routing.
This is mostly Southwest starting a new domestic airfare sale. American, Alaska Airlines, Delta, and United almost always end up matching and in some cases, beating, these Southwest sales when they see them. It took them about 19-hours to match the previous sale.

United has NONSTOP One-way flights from Houston (IAH) to Tokyo (NRT) for 65k points in Premium Plus. +$6 in taxes and fees. Fare has departures out to Sep 20.
United Explorer card-holders save 10% on flights booked with miles. So if you have this card, this fare is available for cheaper: just 58,500 miles.
65k for Premium Plus is a great deal in my opinion. You get the larger seat in a 2-3-2 cabin, similar to a domestic first class seat (not lie-flat) and better cabin service.
United may, at any time and without notice, change, stop or end this offer.
I’m focusing on NONSTOP routes only. I know you can often find similar redemption values for routes with a connection.
