United has discount airfare from Houston (IAH) to Oslo, Norway (OSL) for $699. Flights are round-trip with a short layover in Newark (EWR). Austin (AUS) departures are available for $50 more. Fare allows two stopovers allowed on the pricing unit, one each direction in Europe for $100 each.

Cheap flights from Austin (AUS) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) are being offered by US Airways / American. Airfare is $199 for round-trip flights with a short layover; usually in Charlotte (CLT). FYI: Miami (MIA) is only 25 minutes by car, so if you would rather be there instead of Fort Lauderdale it’s relatively easy to do that.

This is an update to an older post. I’ve updated the details to reflect the new low price and republished it to the front page.
I usually don’t feature flights from discount carriers like Allegiant or Spirit because getting around the fees can offset the low ticket price. I’ll make an exception for this one though, since the price is so low. Flights on Allegiant from Austin (AUS) to Las Vegas (LAS) are $120* for non-stop round-trip tickets.

I’m seeing cheap airfare from Austin (AUS) to several cities in Australia. Round-trip flights to Melbourne (MEL), Sydney (SYD), and Brisbane (BNE) are going for about $1170 at the moment, which is about $500 less than what the route is normally priced at. Fare rules allow a free stopover, so you will probably want to do a multi-city itinerary rather than a round-trip.

Delta has flights from Austin (AUS) to Oakland (OAK) or San Jose (SJC) at $200 round-trip with 1-stop. Those of you that weren’t able to get in on the deal a few days ago to San Francisco for $227 now have another shot at getting out there. Getting to San Francisco from Oakland (OAK) airport is pretty trivial. Jump on the BART.

United Airlines flights from Austin (AUS) to San Francisco (SFO) are on sale right now. Tickets are $227 non-stop round-trip. To those of you that are reluctant to make the drive to catch the flight, consider this: The amount of time you would spend driving to Austin (AUS) plus the flight is less than the total travel time for the $339 flight out of IAH with a layover.

There is a really good fare Jakarta, Indonesia (CGK). Round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) or Austin (AUS) are $975. Fare rules contain a stopover component.

There is a really nice fare to Beijing, China (PEK) from Houston (IAH) for round-trip trip with 2-stops on United. The fare rules allow for two stopovers total (1 each way) for $100. So if you wanted to, you could add Hong Kong (HKG) and for about $120 more and maybe some place else in Asia for the same… be creative.

Flights to Milan, Italy (MXP) from Houston (IAH) or Austin (AUS) are $876 for flights in October. JetBlue and Emirates seem to have the best and lowest route for AUS – MXP while Turkish Airlines has the best route for IAH – MXP.
