American and British Airways have round-trip flights from Houston (IAH/HOU) to Budapest (BUD) for $435 with a connection. Flights February to May. Connects in London. Requires a very long connection time.

American and British Airways have round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) to Budapest (BUD), Vienna (VIE), Dusseldorf (DUS) or Berlin (TXL) starting at $606 with a connection. Flights October to December. Blackout after December 13th. It may be possible to get this for slightly cheaper by adding extra stops to your trip, but we don’t think doing that is worth the extra time and hassle.
Dusseldorf has fares from September to December for $665. The other destinations are cheaper, but only have fares available from October to December.
Note: Budapest has long connection times on the return flight.

Delta and SkyTeam partners have round-trip flights from Houston (IAH / HOU) to multiple cities in Europe for $489-$770. Flights departing mid-September to at least March 2017. Carrier will depend on dates / destination selected. Most flights have either one or two connections. Holiday blackouts apply somewhat (see note). 7-day minimum stay required.
Note: Most of the flight prices in September and October are going to be about +$100 more than the lowest price listed below. If you want the cheapest dates to fly on, you’ll want to pick flight dates after October.
Note: It’s possible to book the Wednesday before and after New Years for most of these destinations.

Turkish Airlines, United, and Star Alliance partners have round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) to Budapest (BUD) for $582 (on Turkish) to $612 (on UA / Star) with a connection. Flights January to April.
Note: Mile accrual will differ depending on which alliance partner you fly. There is zero mileage accrual on Turkish or Lufthansa when crediting back to United with a K class fare.
Delta / KLM are also offering round-trips for about $650; a competitive price to this destination.
If you don’t mind having a couple of stops on your outbound flight there is a really good fare to Budapest (BUD) from Houston (IAH) on American Airlines that will get you there and back for $652 for flights from the end of October until mid December.
