Some small OTAs on Skyscanner have this for cheaper than the airline, about $857. If you plan on booking there, beware of any site that charges a fee to cancel a ticket within the 24-hour “free” period. Use unknown booking sites at your own risk.
Delta has round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) to Manila (MNL) for $587-$600 with a connection. Flights sparse and scattered in February, March, and April.

United and ANA is offering round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) to Manila (MNL) for about $635 with a connection. Flights from late-August to early-December. No Christmas.

United and ANA are offering open-jaw flights that depart from Houston (IAH) into either Singapore (SIN), Bangkok (BKK), or Manila (MNL), but fly back out of Jakarta (CGK) for about $538. Best flights are in November. There are also flights available in September and October, but the return requires either a long layover or an expensive ground transfer between HND-NRT. Keep in mind that you’ll need to add a one way flight to Jakarta (CJK) in order to catch your flight back home to Houston. For example, you’ll need to buy a one-way ticket from Singapore to Jakarta if you fly into Singapore which will cost about $35 to $75 depending on the carrier and time.
This deal will work out best for those of you who want to visit both Jakarta + another destination.
Note: Stopovers in Japan are allowed for an additional fee. It’s entirely possible to book an itinerary that stops in Tokyo, Singapore, and Jakarta for about $640 total.

Korean and EVA Air are offering round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) to Manila (MNL) starting at $661 with a connection in either Taipei or Seoul. Flights April to May and August to November.
If you depart on EVA Air on WED/FRI/SUN or return on MON/THU/SAT the plane will be the Hello Kitty Plane for the IAH-TPE segments.

Flights to Manila (MNL) from Houston (IAH) are on the cheap right now. Round-trip flights are $877 and require a stop in Seoul (ICN). Carrier is Korean Air, one of my favorite airlines.
