Air France, KLM, and Delta have round-trip flights from Houston (IAH) to New Delhi or Mumbai (DEL/BOM) for $652-$670 with a connection. Flights from September to January. Blackout from December to mid-January. Flight may operate as a SkyTeam code-share. 7-day minimum stay required.
Note: Mumbai also has a few flights available in April.
Note: Check availability out of Air France, KLM, and Priceline. They seem to have slightly different dates and flight times.
It looks like there is a glitch fare on Vayama. Flights on Emirates from Houston (IAH) to multiple destinations in India and Dubai starting at $197.

Delta and KLM have cheap flights from Houston (IAH) to Mumbai, India (BOM “Bombay”) for $797. Airfare is round-trip and has a short layover in Amsterdam (AMS). New Delhi (DEL) is also available from Houston (IAH) for about $50 more.
The fare rules allow a free stopover in Amsterdam.

Delta and KLM have cheap flights from Houston (IAH) to New Delhi, India (DEL) for $829. Airfare is round-trip and has a short layover in Amsterdam (AMS).
The fare rules should allow a free stopover in Amsterdam (airport tax not included), but I’m having a hard time finding the dates that will work with it. What this would allow you to do, is spend several days (or weeks) in Amsterdam before catching your connecting flight to New Delhi. I’m sure this will be appealing to those who like multi-city itineraries.
[09/19/2014 @ 1:10 PM] I’m going to quit updating the exact prices and just leave it on the deal list indefinitely. This route is almost always in the range of $800 – $900. I will not be sending out any notifications unless this route prices under $830.
