Some small OTAs on Skyscanner and Kayak have this for as low as $831; which is cheaper than the airline. If you plan on booking there, beware of any site that charges a fee to cancel a ticket within the 24-hour “free” period. Use unknown booking sites at your own risk.

A Carry-on bag and also a personal item is allowed for free on American. You can avoid paying for seat selection by accepting the randomly assigned seat at the gate.

This is a good price for NONSTOP flights which usually price in the $2200-$2500 range.

Getting to Japan is more expensive than it was pre-pandemic, but the yen is currently trading at 149 per dollar, which should mean that hotels, goods, and services in Japan will be cheaper due to the exchange rate. The last NONSTOP deal to Tokyo that we mentioned on the blog was on September 30, 2018 for $845, same carriers.
